E-mobility Is Stuck in First Gear
The latest data from the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) clearly shows that electric mobility is currently not running as smoothly as the car industry and the governing politicians in Brussels and Berlin had intended. The number of customers with a desire for a new electric car seems to be decreasing rather than increasing. The trend that was already apparent at the end of last year and was predicted by many car experts has now become a reality.

Could the "Combustion Engine Phase-out" Be Over?
The EU is already in election campaign mode. Politicians are staking out their positions and existing regulations are coming under scrutiny. One such regulation is the CO2 fleet mechanism, often simplistically known as the "combustion engine phase-out". According to this directive, only zero-emission new cars may be registered in the EU from 2035. This is an impossible target for cars with a traditional combustion engine.

Transport Emission Targets Are Missed – Yet Again
According to the latest report by the Federal Environment Agency (UBA), Germany emitted 10.1 per cent fewer greenhouse gases (GHG) in 2023 than in the previous year. This is the sharpest decline since 1990. In addition to the higher proportion of renewable energy being used, the reduction is also due to unusual circumstances such as the sluggish economy, the resulting fall in demand for energy in the commercial sector and consumers saving on energy in the face of high prices.

Industry Report: The Future Is Looking Brighter
